About Textures and Art Quilts....

Textures artists use dye, paint, fuse, cut or tear fabric or other fibers as a part of their work. Other embellishments such as beads, buttons, photos or found objects in conjunction with hand stitching, embroidery or machine quilting give the work a dimensional interest.

An Art Quilt is a piece of highly collectible artwork. It is designed to be hung on the wall. The design may be abstract, representational, or figurative.

San Jacinto Gallery update

Just to update you and be sure everyone has the final dates:

Jan. 20: take quilts to Phyllis at Harveston between 4 and 5 PM.  Take a lot of quilts....

Be sure to have a board in all the sleeves, and a tag on each quilt.  Brandy will be sending a sheet to fill out for each entry.  Please be sure this sheet accompanies each entry.

Jan. 30: Opening 3-5 PM with an artist discussion to follow from 5-6 PM.  Please plan to stay if at all possible.  If a few of you would like to give a brief history of your art quilt journey, please let Phyllis know at the party on Dec. 9.

I will be giving back any quilts not hung the afternoon of the opening.

Feb. 18:  Show closes; Phyllis will pick up all quilts late in the afternoon.

Feb. 19:  Pass back all quilts before the Textures meeting at 4:30.
